Uganda

My name is Iga Ronald the founder and director of Liberty Sparks Uganda a Non-profit Organization standing on the Principals of Liberty. I’ve set up this fundraiser to raise money for the local community in Wakiso District in Uganda. The aim of the campaign is to raise enough money to feed over 100 homes belonging to people who are currently in dire need of help. At first, we will target homes of single mothers with young children who are struggling to get by, we hope as our donations grow, so we can expand our work to more and more people in need. We therefore hope that all those who read this will help us by generously donating to this campaign so that those going hungry in our local community will have food in the bellies soon.

Thank you so much for reading, and keep safe in this time of emergency.

situation

The Coronavirus pandemic has brought enormous tragedy to people around the world. Lock-downs are crippling already impoverished nations such as Uganda. Millions of people with no source of income are for the first time, unable to buy the basic necessities to keep their families alive.

The most recent data from the World Bank estimates that upwards of 41% of Ugandans are in extreme poverty (living on less than $1.90 per day). A lockdown has meant millions of people unable to go to work and many are now unable to afford food, medicine, and other basic necessities. If the situation continues for much longer, it will not be long before the unintended deaths from the lockdown begin. At the time of writing this, Uganda has had only 74 confirmed COVID-19 cases, yet we have spent more than 50 days in the lockdown, and the government plans to extend it by another 90 days.

Colombia

situation

I’ve seen first hand the poverty and desperation that the Venezuelan refugee population faces in Colombia–and similar poverty and desperation among the poor in Colombia.  The COVID-19 pandemic is creating a malnutrition crisis, and it threatens to amplify the pandemic’s death toll.

I am committed to doing everything I can to help.  Due to travel restrictions, I can’t get to Colombia right now, but luckily, I’ve built a network of wonderful freedom activists who share my vision of a freer and more prosperous world.  Movemiento Libertario Colombia, led by the amazing Maria Alejandro Londono, is ready to assist, and we’ve created an amazing initiative designed to deliver maximum life-saving impact.

We are aiming to address two key nutritional deficiencies that are already prevalent among the Venezuelan refugee population, in a way that can save lives:  iron deficiency in children, and folic acid deficiency in pregnant woman.  These are already major problems among this population, and they are poised to get a lot worse as this crisis goes on.

Nepal

Situation

Pokhara Research Centre and Bikalpa-an Alternative are non-governmental organizations that help young people improve their lives by learning about personal responsibility, free-market principles, property rights, and limited government. Our goal is to create a new generation of Nepali entrepreneurs.

This campaign aims to raise enough money to feed over 500 families in Pokhara and Biratnager. The first phase will target the poorest families who are hungry and struggling to get by. As our donations grow, we can fund additional phases to reach more needy people. Due to the ongoing government lockdown (nearly 3 months now) we Nepali are unable to work because the police don’t allow free movement. After our humble request to the local government, however, we have reached an understanding with the local police to allow us to organize this food relief program, and give us the necessary documents to avoid arrest / attacks / fines.

Nearly half of Nepali people buy their food with the money they earn that day. They don’t have significant savings. If they don’t work, they don’t eat, unless someone helps them. At the time of this writing, 19 Nepali have died from COVID-19, yet more than 1000 have committed suicide due to hunger and scarcity.

I am Bishnu Hari Timilsina, the communication and outreach assistant of PRC and intern at Language of Liberty Institute (an American NGO).

ABHIYAAN (“Campaign”) is the name of our joint venture (PRC, Bikalpa, LLI) and has three parts: private humanitarian aid, translations of books and articles, and educational activities such as Liberty Camps, seminars, and webinars.

Please consider donating generously to our campaign, and thank you for your interest.

India

Situation
We are all aware Covid-19 is impacting everyone’s life very badly. Our major cities and towns are flooded with unskilled and semiskilled low economy people and rural Indian has been stuck with less access to daily needs. Their day to day survival is under doldrum because of lockdown.
In April, We are able to help over 50+ families of our villages with Grocery kits with vegetables + daily necessities through the Garuda Foundation sponsored by Swatnatrata. The help was really helpful for people who stuck in their homes. Even though Indian is opening it economic activity and unlocking lockdown, It still very hard for people to go back to work in towns and cities where COVID cases are still Active. they still need to wait for a few more weeks to start working back. we are starting the second phase of Our program to donate ration kits to these poor families so that they can stay & survive a few more days.

Nigeria

Situation

The 100 Million campaign is a call to action for a world where all young people are free, safe, and educated.

We support young people to mobilize to end violence against children and ensure education, breaking the cycles of illiteracy, poverty, and violence, we’re inspired by the strength and the will to impact our society to become successful and free-market activists and rescuers themselves, 100 Million supports and empowers youth mobilization, and aims to increase global equality and understanding. We believe this will create a world where all young people are safe and free to express themselves pioneer freedom and liberty

The insurgency attack in Northern part of Nigeria left many families homeless without any means of survival as they run away from their farmland and likewise, the oil spillage in the southern part of Nigeria left many families devastated in the coast of the Niger Delta while there were an excessive oil spillage and militant attack, in this was another tragedy that struck the world COVID-19 many families can’t feed themselves as the government palliative support isn’t getting to this low-income homes and their families. Their lives are on standstill nothing to make a headstart.
Every support now will add a smile to them in northern IDP camp and the niger delta communities.

Support Championships of liberty to fight hunger in North and Southern Nigeria As the cases COVID-19 infection keeps increasing as a result of failed medical care system exponentially in Africa, especially in Nigeria these have outweighed public health measures that were put in place to stand off pandemic. These included a stay at home orders,  no public gatherings, no schools, no colleges, limiting of office and factory activities, curtailing passengers in public vehicles, and closed intrastate border movement.
